The national tree of Zuid-Holland
Van Aalsburg B.V. also supplies pollard willows. An important tree species for the landscape, biodiversity, embankment protection and use of the wood. The pollard willow is the ‘national tree’ of Zuid-Holland. The life of the pollard starts by planting a willow cutting. After several years and having reached 2 metres in height, the trunk is then cut to size. The tree is pollarded every 2 to 3 years by removing the new branches. The tree owes its name to the swelling at the base of the new branches, the pollard.
Varying product range
Van Aalsburg B.V. supplies these trees from a varying product range. The more than 30-year-old pollard willows with rootball are very unique; these are sturdy willow trees with a 2-metre girth and a 3-metre high pollard. We also take care of the chopping and sawing of pollard willows in withybeds. The rods from pollard willows can be used for willow fencing.
